Vanessa Hudgens and Cole Tucker have broken their silence regarding the recent arrival of their first child. After news outlets reported the birth of their baby, the 35-year-old actress and her 28-year-old baseball player husband released a statement via Vanessa’s Instagram Stories.
“We’re disappointed that our family’s privacy was disrespected and exploited during this very special time due to the greed of a long lens camera feeding the media,” the couple expressed in their statement. “Despite all of that, mom, dad, and baby are happy and healthy.”
Paparazzi photos surfaced on Wednesday, July 3, showing Vanessa and Cole leaving a Santa Monica hospital with their newborn. Earlier that day, Vanessa had celebrated Cole’s birthday on Instagram without publicly confirming the birth of their child. “Happy birthday to my slice of heaven @cotuck,” Vanessa captioned an Instagram post, accompanied by a carousel of photos. “You make the world a brighter place just by being you.”
Throughout her pregnancy journey, Vanessa shared updates on Instagram, including baby bump photos and moments from various events. The name and sex of their child have not been disclosed publicly.
Vanessa confirmed her pregnancy in March, proudly displaying her baby bump on the Oscars red carpet. She and Cole, who began dating in late 2020 and married in December 2023, have openly discussed their evolving relationship.
Reflecting on her personal growth, Vanessa previously shared with NYLON her journey towards understanding herself and her priorities before meeting Cole. “I always thought that around 36, 37 is when I would want to have kids, and that still plays,” she explained. “I don’t feel panicked about it.”
Vanessa emphasized her evolving perspective on life, recalling a pivotal moment in her late twenties when she realized the importance of self-discovery and personal boundaries.
