Detectives in Limpopo’s Sekhukhune District have launched an extensive manhunt for Lovemore Musoyi, a 35-year-old Zimbabwean national who is their “most wanted suspect”. Musoyi is sought in connection with over 10 criminal cases ranging from murder and attempted murder to armed robberies, house robberies, business robberies, kidnapping, assaults, stock theft, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, according to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for Limpopo police.

The crimes attributed to Musoyi span several areas including Elandskraal, Motetema, Dennilton, and Rakgoadi within the Sekhukhune District. One of the recent incidents involving Musoyi occurred on June 20, during a brazen business robbery at a tuck shop in Mafisheng village, where he and accomplices assaulted a male victim with an axe after accusing him of betrayal. They proceeded to loot the shop, stealing cash and soft drinks before fleeing.

In another notable incident on January 1, 2023, Musoyi managed to escape from police custody at Moutse Mall in Dennilton while being transported to Witbank Correctional Services. This escape involved two other suspects, who were later recaptured. Furthermore, on February 2, 2024, Musoyi was involved in a violent altercation at his ex-girlfriend’s residence, where he shot her brother in the mouth before fleeing with a television set.

In response to the ongoing threat posed by Musoyi, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, the provincial police commissioner in Limpopo, has instructed investigators to escalate efforts to locate and apprehend him. Community members are urged to provide any relevant information that could lead to Musoyi’s arrest, emphasizing the importance of bringing him to justice.
