Woman seeks separation from husband over mubobobo claims

In a bewildering turn of events, a 38-year-old woman from New Harrisvale suburb in Bulawayo has divorced her husband after accusing him of using a mystical sex charm, known locally as mubobobo, to exploit her invisibly. This case has not only raised eyebrows due to its unusual nature but has also ignited a fierce custody battle and allegations of domestic violence.

Jenita Chabata, the woman in question, alleges that she discovered through a vision that her now ex-husband, Brighton Nhidza, was using mubobobo against her. Mubobobo is reputed in some cultural beliefs to allow a man to engage in sexual acts with a woman without physical contact. According to Chabata, her vision revealed Nhidza holding a mythical serpent-like creature and a doll resembling her, while he engaged in self-stimulation.

Chabata’s dramatic claims do not stop there. She reports that upon confronting Nhidza with her vision, he neither denied the accusation nor attempted to refute it. Instead, he purportedly confessed that he desired a partner who practiced witchcraft, a practice Chabata does not follow. This revelation led to their divorce.

The situation remains tense as Chabata further accuses Nhidza of using his supposed witchcraft to conspire with her own parents against her, allegedly resulting in a series of personal misfortunes. She claims that even after their divorce, Nhidza continues to disturb her by performing actions that cause her physical discomfort, a phenomenon she attributes to his alleged witchcraft.

On the other side of the dispute, Nhidza vehemently denies all accusations of witchcraft and mubobobo. He attributes the breakdown of their marriage to an earlier domestic violence issue, which led to Chabata filing a protection order against him in 2018. Nhidza suggests that Chabata’s current allegations are a smear campaign designed to obstruct him from obtaining custody of their children. He asserts that he was granted custody on March 27 of this year but has been unable to see the children due to Chabata’s refusal to release them.

Nhidza also claims that Chabata has kept their children out of school for the past two years and is isolating them from the outside world to avoid scrutiny. He describes the situation as detrimental to their children’s well-being and criticizes Chabata for what he perceives as efforts to sabotage his ability to care for them. As the legal and personal drama unfolds, the community watches with bated breath. This case not only highlights the complexities of personal relationships intertwined with cultural beliefs but also underscores the broader issues of custody and domestic conflict.
