Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Themba Gorimbo has apologized to Winky D following a recent controversy. Gorimbo sparked outrage last week when he suggested that the musician was merely a local star compared to his global fame. His comments, which included claims of his superior popularity over Winky D, drew sharp criticism from the musician’s fans online, prompting Gorimbo to deactivate some of his social media accounts.

However, Gorimbo has since regretted his remarks, explaining that they were intended as a light-hearted joke rather than a serious critique of Winky D’s stature. “Guys, I made an error regarding the Winky D issue and thought it was just a harmless joke. I never meant to belittle Winky or assert my superiority,” he clarified.

“I was simply trying to have fun, similar to what I did with Enzo Ishall back in 2021 if you recall. But I understand now that it offended many of you, and for that, I apologize,” Gorimbo added.

He further emphasized his admiration for Winky D, acknowledging the artist’s significant influence on his own life and career. “Winky D’s music has been a source of inspiration for me for years. I hold his work in high regard,” Gorimbo affirmed.

Looking to put the incident behind him, Gorimbo expressed hope that his apology would be accepted and that there would be no further controversy. “Winky D is undeniably one of Zimbabwe’s greatest artists, and if I can aspire to be even half the man he is, I would consider it a great achievement,” he concluded.
