Music producer Diplo faces lawsuit over allegations of sharing revenge p0rn0graphy

DJ and music producer Diplo, whose real name is Thomas Wesley Pentz, is facing legal action from an anonymous plaintiff referred to as Jane Doe, who has filed a lawsuit in California alleging the distribution of revenge porn.

According to court documents filed on Thursday (June 27), Jane Doe, a resident of New York, claims she had a consensual sexual relationship with Diplo from 2016 to 2023. The lawsuit asserts that during this period, Doe explicitly communicated to Diplo that she did not consent to being recorded during their intimate activities or to having any images or videos of herself shared with third parties.

The legal filing states that in November 2023, Jane Doe was informed by a third party that there were images and videos of her and Diplo engaging in sexual activities in circulation. The lawsuit alleges that Diplo recorded their encounters without Jane Doe’s knowledge or consent between 2018 and 2023, and subsequently shared these materials via text messages and Snapchat with third parties.

Diplo’s attorney, Bryan Friedman, responded to the allegations in a statement to The Independent, asserting that previous accusations against Diplo have been either dismissed swiftly, resulted in significant financial awards in Diplo’s favor, or were attempts at extortion. Friedman implied that this latest lawsuit is part of a pattern of baseless claims against his client.

The legal action also mentions that Jane Doe reported the matter to the New York Police Department in November 2023, leading to an ongoing investigation into unlawful dissemination concerning a suspect identified as Thomas Pentz.

Jane Doe is seeking a jury trial and damages totaling $150,000, in addition to legal fees, citing severe emotional distress and other negative impacts resulting from the unauthorized distribution of intimate images and videos.

Diplo, known for his prominent role in the electronic dance music scene through collaborations with artists like Skrillex and Justin Bieber, has faced previous legal challenges, including a lawsuit from another woman, Shelly Auguste, accusing him of sexual abuse and revenge porn dissemination.
