Camron Mpofu, hailing from Kirkcaldy, has completed a notable transfer following a three-year stint in the youth academy at Reading. At just 15 years old, Mpofu, an attacking player, marked his debut with Scotland U/15s against Spain and Hong Kong in April. He also garnered attention by earning a call-up to England’s training camp earlier in the year.
Recognized for his potential, Mpofu has now attracted the interest of Manchester United’s academy scouts and is set to join their U/16s squad.
Expressing his excitement on social media, Mpofu stated, “I’m proud to officially announce my signing for Manchester United. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me on this journey, especially my family, and the coaches and staff at Reading. The hard work continues.”
Born in Kirkcaldy, Mpofu initially played for Real Fife’s youth team before making the move to Berkshire. Following a successful six-week trial, he secured a place at Reading and has since progressed through their ranks.
Reports suggest that United emerged victorious in a competitive battle for Mpofu’s signature, prevailing over several other clubs in securing the promising talent.
