Harare Police Detain Minister’s Daughter in Connection with Alleged Scam Targeting Business Owners

Tanya Rozina Rushesha

Harare, Zimbabwe – Tanya Rozina Rushesha, the 35-year-old daughter of Defence Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, was detained by police on Friday as part of a fraud investigation involving three companies.

Detectives from the police commercial crimes unit took action after receiving complaints from three individuals who accused Rushesha of deceiving them in business transactions.

According to a law enforcement source, Rushesha purportedly approached these business owners claiming to sell bulk fuel. After receiving payments for large orders, she allegedly failed to deliver the promised goods.

Police spokesman Commissioner Paul Nyathi stated, “I’m yet to receive any information” regarding the case.

Minister Muchinguri-Kashiri, returning from an official trip to Zambia on Friday, could not be reached for comment on her daughter’s arrest.

This incident marks the second arrest this year involving a minister’s child. Previously, Neville Mutsvangwa, son of Women’s Affairs Minister Monica Mutsvangwa, was arrested in May for alleged illegal currency dealings. He spent nearly a month in remand prison before being granted bail.

Monica Mutsvangwa labeled Neville’s arrest as “politically motivated,” implicating Vice President Constantino Chiwenga in orchestrating the legal action.
