Acclaimed South African actress Gcina Mkhize, known for her stellar performances on both stage and screen, finds herself and her children in a perilous situation as they face the imminent threat of losing their home in the south of Johannesburg. The 51-year-old star has revealed that a man claiming ownership of the property has been harassing her and her family, escalating the situation to alarming levels.
Since January, Mkhize has endured relentless intimidation from the alleged new owner, who has reportedly taken aggressive steps to force her out of the residence. Despite multiple reports to the Mondeor Police, Mkhize claims that her appeals for protection have been met with inaction, and the harassment continues to intensify.
“I’m assuming we are all aware of the fact that there’s a huge syndicate in our country that specialises in selling people’s homes illegally,” Mkhize stated. “This guy bought my house under mysterious circumstances. The matter is still under investigation, but he wants me to vacate my home as in yesterday. Where will I go with my kids?” Her frustration is palpable, as she grapples with the uncertainty and danger facing her family.
Mkhize further disclosed that the intruder has not only attempted to forcibly evict her but has also introduced other individuals into the property, compounding her distress. “He has broken into our home on three occasions. The third time, which was last week Saturday, he brought people to come to reside in my property ngenkani (forcefully),” she revealed.
Describing the new occupants as “total strangers,” Mkhize expressed her concerns about their behavior and the impact on her family’s safety. “One of them is highly arrogant, loud and rude. They play loud music and today they switched off the water while they were out and switched it back on when they came back. What guarantees our safety sharing our yard with these people? We don’t know them,” she lamented.
Despite the escalating threats and distressing circumstances, Mkhize remains resolute. “I am not going to be bullied out of my home and neither will I resort to violence. If I die violently or disappear mysteriously, this guy should be the first person of interest,” she asserted with determination.
