Reflecting on her success, Makhadzi expressed joy and gratitude, attributing her win to years of dedicated effort. “I deserved this, I worked hard for this. I’m here today because of the hard work I put in,” she said. Despite facing financial challenges, including having to borrow money to attend the awards due to a debt with the SA Revenue Service, Makhadzi remained steadfast in her belief in herself and her craft.

“Now my value is rising. They must watch out. We are going for a Grammy next!” she exclaimed confidently. She credited her faith in God for guiding her through tough times. “God was with me. I think he felt the pain I was in as I had to take out my last money and he blessed me with this award,” she said, reflecting on her journey from performing in taverns to international acclaim. Her message to fellow dreamers was clear: “Believe in yourself, believe in your dreams, stay true to yourself, and everything is possible.”
